Who We Are
Jim Martin, IFMA, NCIDQ – Jim is the Principal of Genesis Planning & Design. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Industrial Design, Jim started his career with Karlsberger Companies in the late 80s before moving to Pizzuti Development Inc. to develop the real estate development experience and eventually become their Director of Planning & Design. After 9 years at Pizzuti, Jim joined the global architectural and engineering firm URS Corporation to eventually become the Interior Design Department Manager. This was followed by a return to the real estate community and becoming the Director of Planning & Design at Genesis Architecture, a subsidiary of Welsh Companies (also known as Columbus Commercial Realty/Cushman Wakefield). Upon the sale of Columbus Commercial Realty, Genesis Planning & Design was formed in January 2006. Some of the company’s more prominent clients include: Molina Healthcare, Time Warner Cable, CBRE, Colliers International, Cushman Wakefield, NAI Ohio Equities, Hertz Investment Group, Kirco, Ohio School Employee Retirement Services, Viox (Fifth Third Bank), Credit Bureau of Columbus, Crawford Hoying and Fortis College. Jim is responsible for project management and scheduling, design team lead, and compliance with client direction and satisfaction.
Kelli Filippi (Interior Designer) – Provides preliminary programming services and is an expert space planner. Other services Kelli provides includes product selection, color palette creation, and finish specifications. Kelli has a background in the furniture industry and is very knowledgeable about systems and free standing furnishings. Kelli has 15 years experience as an Interior Designer.
Jesus Uresti (Interior Designer) – Provides space planning and construction document preparation. Jesus has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Notre Dame. He is a consumer focused design professional with a proven record of successfully guiding clients along their remodeling project journey, balancing the consumer’s wants and needs within their budget, and providing the ideal design solutions. A motivated collaborator with a passion for doing whatever it takes to deliver individualized solutions. His experience includes commercial design at Shremshock Architects and Engineers along with residential and commercial design with Lowes Home Improvement. He is also an expert in restaurant design.
Louis Burwell (Controller) – Oversees the accounting, IT and web design functions for Genesis Planning & Design. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting, Louis brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. He makes sure that clients are billed properly, and that client files are protected and properly maintained. For clients who would like the files and photos of their project stored on a password-protected web page for their convenience, Louis will create the custom page for the client and update it as the client’s needs change.
